Yang sexual assault case moves forward | Crimes and Courts

In one case, allegations of misconduct led to a second investigation in which a former Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was charged with sexual assault.

La Crosse, Wisconsin – (WXOW) – A preliminary hearing has been held for Aaron Yang, the former Monroe County Sheriff’s deputy accused of illegal sexual conduct with a minor. According to the indictment, the incident occurred in early 2023 when Yang sexually abused his 16-year-old babysitter.

Yang Case

Yang is alleged to have engaged in illegal sexual acts with a minor in his La Crosse apartment in early 2023. The victim was 16 years old at the time.

At the preliminary hearing, La Crosse Police Investigator Andrew Rosenow testified that the victim told him how Yang attacked her in a room and then took her to the bathroom and continued the attack.

“She thought it was very aggressive and she said it was fast,” Rosenow said. “I asked her to explain what aggressive and fast meant to her and she said it was very rough… She said he liked to spit in my mouth and he choked her.”

Defense attorney Todd Schroeder then asked Rosenow if the victim had been threatened by anyone. He replied, “No, sir.”

“And she didn’t say to you, ‘I didn’t agree with what was going on in the bathroom,’ right,” Schroeder said.

Rosenow replied: “That’s right.”

“She did not say whether she consented or whether she agreed,” Schroeder explained.

Rosenow replied: “That’s right.”

The case has been determined to be probable cause and will proceed to trial. A trial date has not yet been set but will be announced sometime next week. Yang is currently out of jail on $2,000 bail.
