Chase leads to minor accident and drug offenses | News

Police Chief Zach Dunlavy said the pursuit was initiated because McBurney’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle did not have a tail light. As a result of the incident and further investigation, McBurney was charged with the following counts:

• Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to sell more than 5 grams (Crime B),

• Fleeing while exceeding the speed limit by 25 mph or more (Class D felony),

• Possession of a controlled substance (not marijuana) 3rd offense (D Felony),

• Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) (serious offense),

• Possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor),

• Failure to display a drug tax stamp (crime D),

• Illegal possession of a prescription drug (serious offense).

McBurney’s traffic violations included loss of control, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to provide proof of liability insurance and improper tail lights.

McBurney’s Harley-Davidson sustained $3,500 in damage and had to be towed by Kirby Wrecker Service.
