BBC journalist John Hunt is confronted with a family tragedy.

British police have arrested a man accused of the triple murder of a racing commentator’s wife and two of their children.

Authorities tracked down the suspect, 26-year-old Kyle Clifford, near Enfield on July 10 after Carol Hunt, 61, and her daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25, were found fatally injured in their home in Hertfordshire, northwest of London, Sky News reported.

Aerial footage from the outlet shows police carrying Clifford on a stretcher through a cemetery.

“He is receiving medical treatment after being found with injuries,” Hertfordshire Police said in a statement. “Police did not fire any shots.”

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Serious Crime Unit, added: “Following extensive enquiries, the suspect has been located and no one else is currently being sought in connection with the investigation.”

The statement also said police “believe the victims knew the suspect.”

On the evening of July 9, emergency responders were called to the Hunt family home and found the three women with serious injuries. They later died at the scene, police said in a statement that included a photo of the murder suspects.

Hertfordshire Police Chief Jon Simpson said at a press conference that “a crossbow is believed to have been involved in the incident, but other weapons may have been used,” according to the Independent.

Clifford is believed to have left the British Army after a short period of service in 2022, the BBC reported.

In addition to Hannah, a beautician, and Louise, who worked as a dog groomer, John and Carol also have a third daughter, according to the outlet.

Heidi Dawson, BBC Radio 5 live controller, issued a statement following the attack.

“Our thoughts are with John and his family during this incredibly difficult time,” she said, “and we will provide him with all the support we can.”

In addition, the UK Home Office is currently reviewing the results of an internal investigation to determine whether stricter crossbow laws are needed, the BBC reported, citing PA Media.

“We continually review the legislation and launched an evidence-taking exercise earlier this year to consider whether further controls on crossbows should be introduced,” a spokesman said. “The Home Secretary will review the findings promptly to decide whether the laws need to be tightened further.”
