Police are investigating a morning non-fatal shooting that left one man hospitalized

MISHAWAKA — Mishawaka police are investigating a non-fatal shooting Thursday morning that sent a man to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Jefferson Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. where they found a man in his 40s with a gunshot wound to the thigh. Police reported he was conscious and alert at the time.

The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Mishawaka police said in a news release that while this incident is under investigation, they believe it to be an isolated incident with no threat to the community.
