Shooter arrested after killing man in Bensalem apartment complex – NBC10 Philadelphia

Police in Bensalem are investigating after arresting a man they believe shot a 40-year-old man during a “minor physical altercation” at an apartment complex on Saturday night.

According to police, Abel Mendoza-Ramirez, 31, of Bensalem, was arrested and charged with murder and related offenses after Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz, 40, was shot and killed Saturday at the Bucks Meadows apartment complex in the 3100 block of Knights Road in Bensalem.

Police officials said the shooting occurred at about 5:48 p.m. when they believe Tenorio-Ruiz and Mendoza-Ramirez were involved in what police believe was a “minor physical altercation.”

At some point during that altercation, witnesses told police that Mendoza-Ramirez left the scene, went to his personal car and returned with a semi-automatic pistol, officials said.

When Mendoza-Ramirez returned, police said witnesses told officers he shot Tenorio-Ruiz twice in the ground near him after they exchanged words again.

According to police, Tenorio-Ruiz tried to take the gun from Mendoza-Ramirez after the shooting and was shot in the upper body.

After the shooting, police officials said, Mendoza-Ramirez fled the scene in a Ford pickup truck, which was stopped by an officer in Newtown Township around 6:40 p.m. Saturday night. Mendoza-Ramirez was taken into custody without incident at that time, officials said.

First responders at the scene at the Bucks Meadows apartment complex immediately attempted to save Tenorio-Ruiz’s life, but his condition was assessed at a nearby hospital shortly after the shooting, according to police.

According to police, Mendoza-Ramirez is currently in custody at the Bucks County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
