Eight people were killed and 16 injured in Russian attacks in Ukraine over the past day, regional authorities said on July 7.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Ukrainian armed forces shot down all 13 Shahed drones launched by Russia on the night of July 7.

Russian forces also reportedly launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 13 drones from Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

Mobile fire groups as well as anti-aircraft missile and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Air Force were involved in repelling the air attacks.

The drones were shot down over the Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Sumy and Poltava oblasts.

Russia has attacked a total of 10 Ukrainian regions over the past day – Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Luhansk, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kharkiv and Donetsk. Casualties have been reported in the last four regions.

In Kherson OblastRussian forces attacked 17 settlements, including the regional center of Kherson. Over the past day, four people have been killed and three injured, reported Governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

In Donetsk OblastTwo people were killed in the cities of Niu-York and Ukrainsk, reported Governor Vadym Filashkin. Eight people were injured.

In Dnipropetrovsk OblastOn July 6, Russian forces attacked the Chervonohryhorivka community in Nikopol district, killing a 65-year-old woman, according to Governor Serhii Lysak.

The Russian military also attacked the Nikopol district with drones and artillery on the night of July 7. Three women aged 38, 65 and 71 were injured, Lysak reported.

In Kharkiv OblastIn February, Russian forces attacked the village of Odnorobivka in Bohodukhiv district, killing a 47-year-old man and wounding a woman, said Governor Oleh Syniehubov.

Ukraine: Airfields under fire, Russia prepares for F-16 deployment

As Kyiv prepares to receive the first batch of Western F-16 fighter jets, Ukrainian airfields are facing an increase in Russian attacks. Last week, Moscow carried out at least three missile attacks on Ukrainian airfields – in Myrhorod, Poltava and Kryvyi Rih – all about 100 kilometers away.
