Investigations into the death of a Vancouver woman in a boating accident on the Willamette River continue

Officers with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office River Patrol Unit continue to investigate the death of a 24-year-old Vancouver woman who died in a boating accident in Portland on June 22.

A boat towing Kaileigh Amor Seidel’s dinghy collided with another boat around 8 p.m. on the Willamette River near the Hawthorne Bridge, injuring Seidel, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Seidel was taken to OHSU Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office had initially reported that Seidel fell from a boat before being struck by another boat. However, that information was inaccurate.

Once the investigation is complete, a Multnomah County District Attorney will determine whether to file charges. Anyone who witnessed the incident or captured video of the incident is asked to call the Multnomah County Sheriff’s River Patrol Unit at 503-988-8810.

A GoFundMe campaign for Seidel’s funeral expenses had raised $42,960 as of Friday morning.
