Joe Jaeger, generous contractor and hotelier, dies after accident on Highway 25

A well-known New Orleans hotel owner and real estate developer who also owned property near Franklinton died Sunday morning as a result of an earlier traffic accident.

Joe Jaeger, 77, was known in the Franklinton area for his generosity, supporting the Franklinton High School baseball team and offering financial donations and other assistance.

He owned several hotels in New Orleans and the Plaza Tower skyscraper, as well as other properties. In Washington Parish, he owned Trison Farm, a luxury estate north of Franklinton on Highway 438. The property was valued at over $5 million. For the past five years, Jaeger has leased Trison Farm to Hays Creek Outfitters as a commercial hunting lodge and corporate headquarters.

Jaeger was seriously injured in an accident in St. Tammany Parish on June 19 and died on Sunday.

The accident occurred on Highway 25, about 1.5 miles south of Folsom, where Jaeger owns a large horse farm. According to the state police report, Jaeger pulled out of his driveway onto the highway and his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck.

Jaeger leaves behind his wife Becky and his sons Joey (59) and Ryan and Mike (both 51). Another son, Todd, has already passed away.
