Buffalo Bills’ Sean McDermott applauds Von Miller naysayers: ‘He’s got something to prove’

There’s no denying that Buffalo Bills veteran Von Miller is getting there over the years. It’s also true that the three-time All-Pro linebacker has been hampered by injuries over the past two seasons, which is why there’s a lot of doubt about Miller’s ability to make a meaningful impact for the Bills this upcoming season.

However, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott is having none of it.

Speaking on a recent episode of former Buffalo center Eric Wood’s podcast, McDermott expressed his unwavering confidence in Miller’s abilities. The Bills shooting guard is well aware of the criticism Miller faces, but McDermott remains adamant that the eight-time Pro Bowler still has plenty of gas left in the tank:

“The first year without an ACL is an uphill climb,” McDermott said (with PFT’s Michael David Smith). “Now going into our second year injury-free, we’re excited to see what he can do, how he moves and what impact he’s going to have on our team. You never count out a player or person like Von Miller. I know some people would say age and injury, and that’s real, but you’re also talking about a guy, and that’s where the hope comes from, a guy who’s going to get into the Hall of Fame , he has an incredible mindset, and I think he has something to prove, and I think he would say that. We can’t wait to see how this all comes together over the coming months.

As McDermott said, Miller wasn’t one hundred percent last season while recovering from a career-threatening ACL injury. Now it appears the 35-year-old is back at full strength, and as the Bills coach said, Miller will try to prove his doubters wrong in 2024.
