San Diego Police Department – NBC 7 San Diego

San Diego police are asking for the public’s help in locating an endangered woman who disappeared while hiking in the Black Mountains Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, 50-year-old Diem Le Nguyen was hiking the Nighthawk Trail at Black Mountain, 9711 Oviedo Way.

Their disappearance occurred during San Diego County’s first heat wave of the summer, when a heat advisory was in effect for the mountains until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Nguyen had been hiking with a group, but when they stopped halfway up the trail around 8 a.m., she continued on to finish the trail alone, SDPD said.

At 9:30 a.m. she contacted her group and informed them that she had reached the end of the trail.

She has not been contacted or seen since then, police said. Due to the hot weather and the difficulty of the journey, she is considered missing and at risk.

Nguyen was last seen wearing a black shirt with a pink heart on the front, black pants, a black backpack, sunglasses and a beige wide-brimmed hat.

She is approximately 5’1″ tall, weighs 100 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes. SDPD released a photo taken of her on Sunday.

If you or anyone you know has information on Nguyen’s whereabouts, please call 911 and reference case number 24-50182.
