Suspend toll fees at Cavitex for 30 days

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday asked the Toll Regulatory Board to suspend tolls on the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) for all vehicles for 30 days, effective immediately, to help motorists in Luzon.

Marcos said this while graced the inauguration of the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange and the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cavitex-Calax Interconnection and the Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B.

In his speech, Marcos said he agreed with the proposal of the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to suspend tolls on the said expressway for one month.

“The PRA, the Philippine Reclamation Authority, as operator of the Cavitex, has proposed to suspend the collection of tolls for all types of vehicles passing through the Manila-Cavite Expressway in Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Bacoor and Kawit for 30 days. This way, we can make our new roads and expressways accessible to those who need this transportation system,” Marcos said.

“I now call on the toll regulator to ensure immediate implementation for the benefit of cyclists and transport users,” Marcos added.

According to MPT South’s corporate communication, the CAVITEX C5 Link Sucat Interchange will be open to the public starting Friday, June 21, at 6 p.m. They also mentioned that motorists can use this section for free for a limited time.

The President also invited Filipinos to take the opportunity to experience the amenities of CAVITEX. He acknowledged the collective efforts that led to the success of the project and commended the PRA, Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation and all those involved in the construction.

Marcos Jr. thanked the people for their patience and support during the construction phase. He stressed the importance of unity in such projects and reiterated his government’s commitment to the “Build Better More” program.

The proposed abolition of tolls is seen not only as an opportunity to improve traffic but also to strengthen connections within communities.

In the same speech, Marcos said that the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange and the groundbreaking of the Cavitex-Calax Link and Cavitex C5 Link Segment 3B will significantly reduce travel times between major areas in Metro Manila.

Marcos said that through the Cavitex C5 Link Sucat Interchange, motorists would be able to travel from Cavitex R1 to Sucat, Parañaque in just five minutes, compared to the usual travel time of one hour through existing roads.

On the other hand, Segment 3B of the Cavitex C5 Link Expressway, upon its completion, is expected to reduce the travel time from Cavitex R1 to SLEX/C5 Road from 40 minutes to 10 minutes.

The CEO added that around 23,000 vehicles are expected to benefit from this segment every day.

President Marcos acknowledged the cooperation of various agencies and individuals who made these projects possible. He also thanked the Filipino public for their patience and understanding during the construction period.

“With all this, we are creating a country where Filipinos can easily reach and travel to our communities and have a pleasant and productive time,” Marcos said.
