“This is an extraordinary moment in history,” Mohamed said in the BBC report. “Having the chance to be at the heart of a story that could change the world we live in is exciting. As a filmmaker, it’s the kind of opportunity you dream of.”

“State of Georgia” is based on the controversial Trump election interference case prosecuted by Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis’ office. Trump and 18 others, including top federal and state officials, are accused of trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

The BBC wrote of the new documentary:

“This feature-length documentary based in Georgia, USA, follows the people working to put Donald Trump behind bars and those determined to bring him back to the White House.
Not only is Georgia an extremely important swing state in the presidential race, but it is also where Trump reportedly tried to overturn the 2020 election. Now, in 2024, Trump must win the vote in Georgia – but before that, he and his 18 co-defendants will face a criminal trial. With unprecedented access to “The State of Georgia vs. Donald J. Trump,” this film explores key evidence in the most audacious “racketeering criminal enterprise” case in American history. Using a small observation team, the film will follow members of the prosecution and defense as they build their case and witness how daily trial preparation is now a world of understudies and refuges.

“It’s the story of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. From the employee who secretly recorded Trump asking her boss to find ‘11,780 votes,’ to the suburban candle maker who suddenly finds herself president of the grand jury indicting the former president of the United States.
