Second defendant brought to trial in 2023 Buffalo homicide case

A second defendant has been brought to justice for the murder of a man in Buffalo’s Willert Park neighborhood last year, Acting Erie County Prosecutor Michael J. Keane announced.

Ernest Brown, 41, of Buffalo, is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held without bail pending his next appearance July 16 before Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes in Erie County Court.

Brown, wanted on an indictment warrant, was arrested late last week in the Jamestown area. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

Brown and his co-defendant, Twandrell L. Dean, 25, of Buffalo, are accused of shooting three men around 3 a.m. July 22 outside a tavern on Genesee Street, near Mortimer Street.

One of the victims, Devin Lockwood, 31, of Buffalo, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two men were transported to Erie County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
