A woman was arrested Monday and accused of raping a 12-year-old boy in DeBary, the Volusia Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Tuesday. Amanda Maradiaga, 20, has been charged with lewd and lascivious battery for an incident last month. Investigators say Maradiaga raped the 12-year-old about two weeks ago at the boy’s father’s home in DeBary. According to that arrest report, it was the mother who alerted authorities after noticing her son was in pain, and she even took him to the hospital for evaluation. The report says the boy splits his time between his mother’s home in Sanford and his father’s home in DeBary. The child told investigators from the Department of Children and Families that the 20-year-old had “forced him to have sexual intercourse.” And this: “… his father arranged the agreement via a phone call with the victim, in which the father explained that the woman would come to the victim’s room and the victim would have to perform sexual acts.” The neighbors are shocked. “It is of course sad and very devastating for a little boy when we talk about the transition from boy to man,” said neighbor Rafael Sawin. The boy also told investigators, “…his father often joked about how he would help him…become a man, and that he knows there is a solution to his pimples on his face, which is Amanda.” Investigators also interviewed the boy’s father, who stated, “He saw no problem with his 12-year-old son having sex with a 20-year-old.” “I’m going to pray for them and wish them the best and hope they turn away from this,” Sawin said. Investigators say Amanda Maradiaga admitted to having sex with the boy. They add that she is not a U.S. citizen and appears to be in the country without papers. Investigators contacted the Department of Homeland Security and an immigration arrest warrant was issued at the Volusia County Jail. Maradiaga remains in jail without bail.

Twenty-year-old Amanda Maradiaga has been charged with lewd and lascivious assault for an incident last month.

Investigators believe Maradiaga raped the 12-year-old about two weeks ago at the boy’s father’s house in DeBary.

According to this police report, it was the mother who alerted the authorities when she noticed that her son was in pain and she even took him to the hospital for examination.

According to the report, the boy lives alternately at his mother’s house in Sanford and his father’s house in DeBary.

The child told Department of Children and Families investigators that the 20-year-old “… forced him to have sexual intercourse.”

And further: “… his father arranged the agreement via a telephone call with the victim in which the father stated that the woman would come to the victim’s room and that the victim would have to perform sexual acts.”

Neighbors are shocked.

“It is of course sad and very devastating for a young boy when we talk about the transition from boy to man,” said neighbor Rafael Sawin.

The boy also told investigators: “…his father often joked about how he would help him become a man and that he knew a solution to his facial pimples and that was Amanda.”

Investigators also interviewed the boy’s father, who stated: “He saw no problem with his twelve-year-old son having sex with a twenty-year-old.”

“I will pray for them, wish them the best and hope that they find a way out of this,” Sawin said.

According to investigators, Amanda Maradiaga admitted to having sex with the boy.

They add that she is not a US citizen and is apparently in the country without papers.

Investigators contacted the Department of Homeland Security and an immigration arrest warrant was issued at the Volusia County Jail.

Maradiaga remains in prison without bail.
