Exclusive on NewsChannel 21: Bend police seek suspect accused of threatening McMenamins employees, punching security guard in face

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – Exclusive photos obtained by NewsChannel 21 show a suspect who Bend police say physically threatened employees at McMenamins in downtown Bend, then punched a security guard in the face and fled the scene before police arrived. Bend police say they have reasonable grounds to arrest the man if he is identified.

A witness who spoke only to NewsChannel 21 said Tuesday the man walked into the front desk at McMenamins Old St. Francis School around 10 p.m. Monday and immediately became hostile and aggressive toward staff. The suspect was reportedly upset because the Broom Closet, a hidden bar, was closed for the night.

The witness said that after threatening workers, muttering racist slurs and waking dozens of frightened guests, the suspect punched a security guard in the face and fled the scene before police arrived.

Bend police say there is sufficient probable cause to arrest the suspect for second-degree harassment and disturbing the peace.
