ECPD searches for suspect with weapon

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Police are searching for a suspect with a gun at a busy crime scene.

Ben Frederick of the Eau Claire Police Department told our photojournalist on the scene that an “active manhunt” was underway for a suspect with a weapon.

The search is currently taking place in the Lakeshore Elementary/Randall Park neighborhood, near 9th Avenue and Broadway Street.

Our photojournalist reports that the ECPD has deployed several units along a restricted area near the trail. A police drone is searching the area.

The ECPD asks the public to avoid the area and seek shelter.
