Southeast Nebraska man seriously injured in tractor accident

ODELL, Nebraska (AP) — A 75-year-old man was seriously injured in a domestic accident in Odell on June 5.

At 6:45 p.m., the Gage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about the incident.

John Novotny of Odell was working on his house while standing in the front bucket of a tractor. According to authorities, Novotny slipped while trying to lower the bucket and accidentally put the tractor in gear when he fell out.

The tractor then ran over Novotny, causing serious injuries. Odell Fire and Rescue and Beatrice Fire and Rescue arrived on scene to provide immediate medical assistance. Novotny was flown to a hospital via Starcare Life Flight Helicopter.

The incident is currently under investigation.
