Teen fatally shot by bike-riding gunman in Soho identified as Brooklyn student

The teenager who was shot dead by a Citi cyclist in a brazen daylight attack outside a swank Soho hotel has now been identified.

Mahki Brown, 16, died shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday after she was shot in the head across from the Dominick Hotel on Spring Street, police said.

The teenager, who lived in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, cops added.

The shooting, which occurred across the street from Chelsea Career and Technical Education High School, may be related to the school, according to law enforcement officials.

Sources said the slain teen, who also suffered two bullets in the leg, was a student at nearby Broome Street Academy Charter High School.

It was not immediately clear whether Brown was the intended target, but sources said the shooting may have broken out after an argument between two groups of girls earlier in the day.

There have been no arrests yet, police said.

Immediately after the shooting, an injured Brown collapsed in an alley next to the Dominick Hotel, horrified witnesses said.

“It was disgusting,” Justo Cruz, a security guard who works in the area, told The Post.

“He was just laid down and looked unconscious. I saw some blood on the shirt, but I didn’t look. Nothing nice. That was a person on the floor. It was movie-like.”

“No matter how beautiful a place is or anything like that, you always have to be on high alert in a way,” Cruz added. “Soho – good atmosphere, good energy, very diverse. In a beautiful area you don’t expect certain things.”

Meanwhile, a nearby park ranger said he ran for cover after hearing at least two gunshots.

“I protected myself because you didn’t know where the sound was coming from,” he said. “People ran, so I ran too.”
