Teenager killed in Jacksonville shooting: police

JACKSONVILLE, Illinois (WCIA) – An 18-year-old is dead after an overnight shooting in Jacksonville, police said.

The shooting occurred around 8:13 p.m. Thursday in the area of ​​College Avenue and Dunlap Court. Jacksonville Police Department officials said officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds and had him taken to Jacksonville Memorial Hospital; he later died at the hospital.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Police said they have identified a suspect who allegedly knew the victim, but no arrests have been made. Jacksonville police, the Morgan County District Attorney’s Office and the Morgan County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
