Given the spread of the conflict, the Red Cross is suspending food distribution in areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo

In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the International Committee of the Red Cross has suspended food distribution to people displaced by the conflict as fighting intensifies between the Congolese army and M23 fighters. The violence has spread to Kanyabayonga, a town in the east Democratic Republic of Congowhere tens of thousands of people have fled in search of protection. Around 7 million people have been displaced within the country. Humanitarian aid organizations speak of one of the largest refugee crises in the world.
