Trooper Austin James of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said in his radio report that Leah M. Moritz was injured in the 6:35 a.m. crash on the four-lane highway.

According to James’ report, 54-year-old Joseph R. Moritz, also of Yukon, was traveling westbound on U.S. 60 in a 2008 Ford F-150 truck when he “went off the left side of the road into the median … and overturned into the eastbound lanes of the highway.”

Joseph Moritz was not injured, but his wife, Leah Moritz, was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Both occupants of the Ford truck were wearing seat belts, James said in his report.

The heavily damaged truck was removed from the scene by Yates Boys Towing of Seymour.
