One teenager dies, four others injured in car crash in Wolcott

WOLCOTT, Connecticut (WTNH) – Five teenagers were involved in a fatal car crash in Wolcott Saturday night.

Yesterday, just after 10 p.m., Wolcott Police received reports of a car crash on 734 Spindle Hill Road. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw a car lying on its side in an embankment after it struck a tree and burst into flames.

The 18-year-old driver and 17-year-old passenger had to be extricated. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger was flown to Hartford Hospital in critical condition by Life Star helicopter.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been disclosed.

The three other victims, two 18-year-olds and a 16-year-old, were taken to hospital by ambulance with “very serious injuries”.

The Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team is investigating the cause of this accident.
