California Department of Justice investigates shooting involving off-duty Los Angeles police officer pursuant to AB 1506 | State of California – Department of Justice

OAKLAND – California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced today that the California Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), will investigate and independently review a shooting by an on-duty Los Angeles Police officer that occurred in Ontario, California on Thursday, May 30, 2024. The incident resulted in the death of one person.

Following the OIS, the DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team initiated an investigation under the requirements of AB 1506. Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for independent review.
