Gray’s Creek fire chief arrested and accused of setting up secret camera

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) – The Gray’s Creek fire chief was arrested Thursday after being accused of placing a camera in a fire station ventilation shaft.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said Fire Chief Benjamin Joseph Marsh, 41, of Fayetteville, was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m. Marsh was charged with wiretapping and disclosing wired, oral or electronic communications.

No further details were immediately released. ABC11 is working to gather more information.

Marsh was processed at the Cumberland County Center and released on $1,500 unsecured bail.

His first court appearance was scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Cumberland County Detention Center.
