9-year-old allegedly sexually abused at Renaissance West STEAM Academy in Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (NEWS FROM QUEEN CITY) — A child was sexually assaulted on a west Charlotte school campus during school hours Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

According to a recently released police report, the alleged attack occurred on Tuesday, May 28, at the Renaissance West STEAM Academy, located at 3241 New Renaissance Way.

CMPD reports that the victim in this case is a 9-year-old boy.

According to police, the person reporting the incident stated: “On May 28, 2024, the suspect sexually assaulted the victim on school grounds during school hours.”

The police report states that the alleged crime occurred inside the school.

The relationship between the victim and the suspect is listed as “outside the family.” The charge in this case is sexual abuse of children/sexual offense: forcible sodomy in the first or second degree.
