Guardians’ David Fry among MLB leaders in this striking stat

David Frire‘s breakout season was one of the main reasons the Cleveland Guardians shocked baseball and were the division leaders in the American Central League.

Fry has evolved from a utility player to someone who deserves to be at bat every day and his stats only back that up. He is currently hitting .360/.500/.628 and is third on the Guardians in home runs (six) and tied for fourth on the team in RBIs (19).

Those extra hits that Fry gave the Guardians are exactly what they need to get to the next level.

Fry also currently leads all of MLB in OPS (min. 100 PA) with a 1.128.

Here’s what the rest of the baseball standings look like heading into Sunday, May 25.

  1. 1,128 – David Fry, Cleveland Goalkeepers
  2. 1,050 – Aaron judgesNew York Yankees
  3. 1.034 – Shohei OhtaniLos Angeles Dodgers
  4. 1.026 – Kyle TuckerHouston Astors
  5. 1.018 – Marcell OzunaAtlanta Braves

This accomplishment by Fry is even more impressive when you look at who else is on the list. Judge and Ohtani are two former American League MVPs and Tucker and Ozuna are widely considered among the best power hitters in the game.

Responsible for guards Stephen Vogt has had nothing but compliments for Fry in recent weeks. Part of that is due to his offensive production and the other half is due to his defensive versatility, which is a whole other conversation with having.

Every team needs a player like Fry and Cleveland is lucky to have him on their roster.
