Relatives say goodbye to 88-year-old grandmother who died in a fire in East Flatbush

Family members of an 88-year-old grandmother said goodbye on Saturday to their loved one, who died in an apartment fire earlier this month.

Albertine Ettienne was sleeping when the fire broke out in her New York Avenue apartment building on May 4. She was hospitalized in critical condition for smoke inhalation and died two days later. Albertina Ettienne was just two weeks away from her 89th birthday.

Her daughters say she was a healthy woman and still has a long life left.

Ettienne leaves behind seven children, 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Among them is a member of the NYPD.
