Dutch man sentenced to 99 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child

BEAUMONT, Texas – A 27-year-old man from the Netherlands was sentenced Friday to 99 years in prison by a Jefferson County jury for sexually assaulting a young child.

Smith was found guilty Friday morning of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Because his victim was under six years old, the charge is a first-degree felony.

He was originally charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual performance of a child.

Smith was indicted in 2020.
