Two people hospitalized after crash near Sioux Center

Sioux Center, Iowa – The drivers of two vehicles were injured in a crash east of Sioux Center Thursday afternoon.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office tells us the accident occurred at the intersection of 400th and Indian Avenue on Thursday afternoon at 2:20 p.m.

They say 25-year-old Abigal Vander Werf of Council Bluffs was driving a Nissan Rogue eastbound on 400th Street. Kirsten Cosgrove was driving a Honda Odyssey westbound on 400th Street.

According to the report, Vander Werf attempted to turn left onto Indian Avenue, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Sioux Center Ambulance took Cosgrove to Sioux Center Health. Vander Werf was taken to Sioux Center Health by private vehicle.

Vander Werf’s Nissan sustained approximately $25,000 in damage. Cosgrove’s Honda sustained approximately $8,000 in damage. Vander Werf was cited for failing to yield while making a left turn.
