Police urgently searching for non-speaking autistic 6-year-old boy in Gaithersburg – NBC4 Washington

Montgomery County Police are searching for a 6-year-old boy who disappeared on July 27 in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Fawzan Hassan, who is also speechless and autistic, was last seen in Bohrer Park around 3 p.m. on Saturday.

He was reportedly last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and blue and white sneakers.

Montgomery police and fire departments searched for the child throughout the night, using drones with assistance from Maryland National Capital Police-Montgomery County, authorities said.

Residents are urged to check their property, including porches and patios, swimming pools, outbuildings, unlocked cars and nearby playgrounds, a news release said.

According to experts, it is important to proceed calmly and slowly when dealing with autistic children who do not speak.

A non-speaking autistic child may not respond to his or her name, so try to get his or her attention with other cues, such as visual signals or familiar objects.

Anyone with information on Hassan’s whereabouts is asked to call police.
