Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop to Launch “New Music In The Park” Series at Artpark

As part of Artpark & ​​Company’s 50th anniversary season, the Buffalo Jazz Composers Workshop – featuring some of the region’s best jazz artists and composers – returns at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 18 on the Emerald Stage Grove (Lower Park). This event is part of the “New Music in the Park” series.

“New Music in the Park” is a series of concerts held at various locations throughout the scenic Artpark and organized by Artpark & ​​Company and award-winning conductor and composer Brent Chancellor. The series offers an eclectic snapshot of the music, performance, and collaboration happening now with works by living and underrepresented composers, alongside iconic and legendary figures who are expanding and enriching the musical conversation.

Curator of the “New Music in the Park” series and collaborating artist

Chancellor is an award-winning conductor, composer and curator known for his powerful, dynamic style and direct human communication. A passionate educator and founder of the LUX Immersive Orchestra Project, he has performed throughout the United States, including Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Symphony Space, the DiMenna Center, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Her music and sound installations have been featured at the Festival of New American Music, Festival of the Arts, Sacramento Film Festival, and New York Fashion Week.

Fascinated by the intersectional fusion of interdisciplinary arts, performance practice and education, his programming explores collaborations that present important works.
