In her tenth book Sex and Your Stars: A Sexologist’s Guide to the Erotic Energy of the Zodiac which will be released on July 30, the respected clinical sexologist and astrologer goes one step further.

The book is touted as a “shame-free, sex-positive, no-holds-barred guide to understanding our erotic selves—both its gifts and its challenges—through astrology,” and amid the dating doldrums that have currently left modern romance in a dry patch, Weiss’ tome might be just what we need. In short: Weiss’ one-stop shop on sexual compatibility according to astrology should address the blind spots of modern dating and the fact that, astrologically speaking, some of us are more sexually aligned than others.

Whether you’re in the throes of young love or longing to find the love of your life, these are the zodiac signs that are most sexually compatible with each other.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

“Aries are, in short, very hot,” Weiss tells ELLE UK. “At their core, they have BFE: Big Fire Energy, which means that the other two fire signs, Leo and Sagittarius, often accommodate them sexually in ways that other signs cannot.”

Weiss notes that Aries can also be strongly attracted to their opposite sign, Libra. “Libra is an air sign, which can help them soften their rougher edges and teach them how to behave in polite company if they prefer to just sniff out potential lovers (sometimes literally),” she adds.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

In Weiss’ eyes, “Taurus lives to experience life and love in the most sensual way possible, and his drive is pleasure.” Given the single-mindedness with which Taurus goes through life, he’ll find that his sexual energy is best suited to the other two earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn. If he’s more adventurous, he may also take a completely different path. “Scorpio, his counterpart, can teach him how to deal with change – something Taurus doesn’t always like to push through,” adds Weiss.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

“Air signs Aquarius and Libra understand how Gemini’s great mind works, and that helps immensely in bed,” Weiss notes. “Although their shared intellectual component makes each of these signs less inclined to emotional attachment when they come together in love or lust, there is an easygoing flow that generally causes little conflict and is great for hours of sexting or sweet idleness.”

Both signs complement different elements of Gemini. Aquarius is well-versed in algorithmic theory, while Libra is immersed in cocktail party conversation. Both will stoke Gemini’s fire in different ways.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

In her book, Weiss writes that Cancers are “often deeply thoughtful and passionately relationship-oriented, constantly figuring out where their own feelings end and a lover’s emotional life begins.” The signs most sexually compatible with Cancer are the water signs Scorpio and Pisces, both of which respond to Cancer at their emotional core. “Sexual intuition reigns in these unions,” Weiss adds. “This pairing is very psychic and natural, but emotional projections onto these relationships can be fraught with drama. This is powerful intimacy, but it can also be emotionally draining.”

If Cancer is looking for more emotional security, then its opposite sign, Capricorn, can provide such grounding.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Leo is one of the few signs of the zodiac that is driven by vitality, which means it can be difficult to find the most sexually compatible sign. In her book, Weiss writes, “All the world’s a stage, and for Leos, the bedroom is sometimes the best environment to express their purest creative instincts and come alive.”

The signs that are best suited to Leo sexually in this sense are the fire signs Aries and Sagittarius, between whom sparks fly. “These sexual connections are red hot, but can quickly burn out if not fueled and nurtured,” adds Weiss. “In a date or long-term relationship with an Aries, Leo must learn to follow the leader – something they don’t like to do. But the sex can be incredible and is worth any arguments that arise. With Sagittarius, Leos can open their minds and hearts even further.”

Virgo (23 August – 22 September)

Virgo’s earth signs, Taurus and Capricorn, are best suited to the Fox. Weiss explains that Capricorn, in particular, may share Virgo’s efficient worldview that requires things to be done right and on time—even sex. Taurus, on the other hand, who is down-to-earth and grounded but less concerned with perfection, can teach Virgo to slow down and enjoy sexual moments that she might otherwise rush through to get to the finish line.

Opposites attract with Virgo too. “Virgo’s counterpart, Pisces, shows her that the soul is just as important as the body for great sex,” says Weiss.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

“Eroticism is a fine art for a Libra, and they usually have no shortage of creative ideas,” Weiss notes in her book. When looking for sexual compatibility, Gemini and Aquarius are the best signs for Libra.

“Both signs stimulate Libra’s intellectual, sapiosexual sweet spot. Flirting, brilliant quips, and sweet exchanges are the ideal fuel for Libra’s foreplay – long before physical contact occurs,” says Weiss. “With Aries, Libra learns to turn to her lustful side – the part of her that may not feel quite ready for prime time. But to feel her whole being, that primal power is necessary.”

Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st)

The water signs Cancer and Pisces are strong partners for Scorpio, advises Weiss. “The intensity of the relationships between Scorpio and these signs is as deep as the ocean and sometimes as turbulent as a winding river.”

She notes that water signs can’t help but show unbridled emotions, and that in each other’s presence they feel safer to feel those tremendous feelings without shame. This can spark wild and delightful sexual scenarios. Pairing a Scorpio and their counterpart, Taurus, according to Weiss can also help stabilize, ground, and protect a Scorpio from their impulse to break off relationships as soon as emotional vulnerability arises – they feel protected and don’t need to defend themselves.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

“When their sexuality is allowed to flourish, Sagittarians can be the quintessential ‘try-anything’ of the zodiac,” Weiss writes in her book. The most sexually compatible signs with Sagittarius are the fire signs Aries and Leo, which are ideal sexual partners for Sagittarius. “Sensuality, sexual openness and animalistic lust reign in these relationships,” Weiss says. “Sagittarius’ opposite sign is Gemini, a potential match that moves things along so fast it’s dizzying, and the sex can be exciting—one thing this couple needs is constant variety, so keep adding variety in a monogamous relationship, even if you’ve been together for years.”

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Weiss’ book makes it clear that Capricorn’s erotic gifts are “the ability to arouse sexual impulses, desires, and curiosity and give them a recognizable form.” In this regard, the most sexually compatible signs for Capricorn are the earth signs Taurus and Virgo, both of which are “attuned to the materiality of their own bodies (and their partner’s bodies) just like Capricorn – they take love and sex seriously and can therefore make excellent bedmates.”

If Capricorns crave a gentler sexual relationship, they should turn to their opposite sign. “Cancer shows Capricorns how to be kind to themselves – how to nurture their needs and bring more emotional softness to the act of sexuality,” says Weiss.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

“The air signs Gemini and Libra are a good match for this sign – the brainwave connections here are so hot they sizzle,” advises Weiss. “It’s important to work on the physical connection, though, because anyone in this equation could be stuck in their head. A Leo lover can also take Aquarius right out of their head and ego and into their heart, allowing them to feel parts of themselves that were previously unreachable.”

Weiss adds, “Aquarians tend to be open-minded and continually explore their sexuality, recognizing it as an evolutionary force.”

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

“As the sign that feels everything, Pisces can experience the most extraordinary, exquisite erotic flights of fancy,” Weiss writes in her book.

That means their most electrifying connections often come from water signs Cancer and Scorpio, both of whom innately understand that Pisces needs to be seen spiritually before they can lose themselves in a carnal connection. “There’s a deep emotional fluency in these sexual relationships that points the way to ecstasy,” Weiss says. “Everything can just flow, but excessive emotion can get in the way of the embodiment that good sex requires.”
