Neste’s new Houston terminal capacity increases SAF availability

Neste has commissioned storage capacity at the ONEOK terminal in Houston, Texas, for the blending and storage of Neste MY sustainable aviation fuel. This is a major milestone in expanding the availability of Neste’s sustainable aviation fuel to airlines also operating from airports east of the Rocky Mountains to the East Coast.

The new ONEOK terminal capacity in Houston provides Neste with storage capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes (approximately 33.5 million gallons) and is directly connected to the energy pipeline infrastructure in the eastern United States. Already in 2021, Neste demonstrated its ability to supply SAF to New York’s LaGuardia Airport using existing fuel distribution infrastructure. In September 2023, Neste also expanded its ability to supply renewable fuels to West Coast customers by commissioning terminal capacity in Los Angeles, California.

“Neste is fully committed to supporting the U.S. aviation industry in its decarbonization efforts. This expansion of our SAF supply capabilities, working with partners like ONEOK across the fuel supply chain, underscores that commitment. It provides a reliable foundation for SAF supply to domestic and visiting airlines at eastern airports, as well as a strong foundation to support policies at the state, federal and local levels in the U.S.,” said Alexander Kueper, Vice President of Renewable Aviation at Neste.

“ONEOK is excited to deliver the energy products the world needs today, while innovating for tomorrow. As a valued partner providing critical energy to the aviation industry, we are proud to use our broad infrastructure platform to facilitate growth in sustainable fuel markets,” said Greg Lusardi, senior vice president of corporate development at ONEOK, one of the largest diversified energy infrastructure companies in the United States.
