Two women from Punjab were gang raped on their way back from an event in Gorakhpur | Crime News

Gorakhpur: In a shocking incident, two women were allegedly gang-raped while returning from a programme in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place near Gida police station. The girls, aged 19 and 21, told police that they were originally from Moga district of Punjab and had come to Gorakhpur in search of work.

According to police, the girls earned their living with the orchestra. On the day of the incident, both were cycling with the orchestra leader on their way back from a program. On the way back, they were surrounded and stopped by five men on three bicycles. Shortly afterwards, the orchestra leader was beaten up and chased away.

The two women soon managed to escape from their clutches, reached the police station and filed a complaint with the orchestra operator. The police then arrived at the scene of the incident with the two girls. When they reached the man, they found an intoxicated man lying on the ground. The two girls identified the man and told the police that he had also accompanied the other accused at the time of the incident but was not harassing them.

Drunk man helps in search of accused

When questioned by the policemen, the man gave them the details of all the accused, which made their work easier. The drunk man also informed that he had gone for a walk along with all the accused after drinking. However, as he was very drunk, the man could not sit on the bike with the others. Due to this, the five accused left him and reached the place where they saw the two girls. After getting the tip-off from the man, the police nabbed all the five men and took them into custody.
