Man arrested after shooting in Cranston

CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Cranston police have arrested a man who allegedly fired his gun outside a bar on Phenix Avenue on Sunday.

28-year-old Michael Mancini is accused of:

  • Carrying a gun without a permit
  • Possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I cocaine)
  • Shooting in a compact space
  • Improper conduct
  • Resisting arrest
  • Large capacity feeder prohibited
  • Carrying a weapon under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Cranston police said they were responding to a scene on the same street when they heard a gunshot.

They found Mancini involved in an argument with another person stemming from an argument at 39 West Restaurant & Lounge during St. Mary’s Feast in the city.

Police brought Mancini to the ground, and according to officers, Mancini refused to surrender his weapon.

Police said they were able to subdue Mancini and recover the weapon. They later determined that Mancini had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg during the fight.

Mancini was taken to hospital where he is currently staying.

Cocaine was also found on Mancini when he was arrested.
