Donald Trump and JD Vance on Kamala Harris: All their lines of attack

President Joe Biden announced today that he would endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, just minutes after dropping out of the race. The Republicans on the ballot, former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance, began their attacks on Harris long ago.

Trump told CNN shortly after the announcement that Biden was “the worst president in the history of our country. He will go down as the worst president in the history of our country by far.” Trump also suggested to the broadcaster that Harris would be easier to beat in November.

In recent weeks, as speculation about Biden’s future grew, several pollsters examined how Harris would fare in a head-to-head comparison with Trump, with some finding that she would be slightly behind the Republican candidate and others slightly ahead.

Trump later released a longer statement on Truth Social:

“The fraudulent Joe Biden was not fit to run for president and is certainly not fit to hold the office – and never was! He only got to the office of president through lies, fake news and not leaving his basement. Everyone around him, including his doctor and the media, knew he was not fit to be president and he wasn’t – and now look what he has done to our country: millions of people are coming across our border, totally unchecked and uncontrolled, many from prisons, mental institutions and a record number of terrorists,” he wrote.

“We will suffer greatly under his presidency, but we will repair the damage he has done very quickly. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Senator JD Vance wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that Biden should not remain president and is not “mentally fit.”

Newsweek has reached out to Trump’s campaign team, Biden’s campaign team and Harris’ spokeswoman for comment.

Trump’s previous comments

The New York Times reported on Saturday that Trump’s team had already prepared an opposition plan against Harris.

Just before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, last week, Trump’s team reportedly prepared anti-Harris signs and videos.

“After Donald Trump derailed the bipartisan border agreement, he is now lying about the vice president’s record,” a Harris spokesman said. The New York Times“As a former district attorney and attorney general, she has stood up to fraudsters and felons like Trump throughout her career. Trump’s lies will not stop her from pursuing the prosecution against him on the most important issues of this election campaign.”

Trump had previously called Harris “crazy,” but “not as crazy as (former House Speaker) Nancy Pelosi.”

“Harris was given two tasks: first, she was put in charge of US border security, and then she was sent to Europe to deter Russia from attacking Ukraine,” Trump said. Posted Earlier this month. “BOTH TIMES the result was fatal failure.”

Vance’s previous comments

Vance, who was named former President Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate at the RNC last week, posted to X on Sunday that Biden was the “worst president in my lifetime and Kamala Harris supported him every step of the way.”

“She is responsible for all of these failures and has lied about Biden’s mental capacity for nearly four years – saddled the nation with a president who is not up to the job,” Vance wrote.

“President Trump and I are ready to save America, whoever tops the Democratic ticket. Go ahead.”

In his first campaign appearance with Trump on Saturday, the 39-year-old senator from Ohio said at a rally that Harris’ leadership was “the greatest disaster we have ever seen in this country, the open border.”

Vance said Harris did little during her time as vice president.

“What the hell did you do besides cash a check?” Vance asked the crowd.

Harris had said before Vance’s appearance at the rally that he would only be loyal to Trump. She also criticized Vance for his threats to deny women access to abortion.

“I don’t know, Kamala. I served in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What the hell have you done but cash a check?” Vance said at the Michigan event. “What has she done but cash a check from her political offices?”
