Lane Closures on West Atlanta Street (SR 5) Overnight Sunday in Cobb County

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announced that the single lanes of West Atlanta Street (SR 5) will be closed tonight, Sunday, July 21, for resurfacing work. Lane closures will begin at 6 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. Monday.

The press release relating to the work describes the scope and schedule of the work as follows:

Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install single lane closures on State Route (SR) 5/West Atlanta Street this weekend for a resurfacing project on the roadway from SR 280/South Cobb Drive to SR 120/South Marietta Parkway in Cobb County. The resurfacing improves roadway conditions and provides a smoother ride for drivers.

Weather and site conditions permitting, an alternating left/right lane closure will be in place on SR 5/West Atlanta St in the project area beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19 and continuing through 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 21. These lane closures will help keep drivers and workers safe while crews continue milling, paving and resurfacing operations on the roadway.
