Son arrested after attacking mother and charged with attempted murder

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – A Denver man was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder after attacking his mother Friday night, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff says 58-year-old Lynard Edward Hunter attacked his mother and then called 911 to report the attack.

The attack occurred in the 700 block of North Little Egypt Road.

Officers said they quickly took him into custody after arriving at the scene and that emergency medical services immediately assisted his mother and transported her to a local hospital.

The 77-year-old victim suffered severe head and body injuries and is currently in critical condition, officials say.

According to investigators, the son admitted that he became angry with his mother and hit her.

Hunter has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and is currently being held without bail.
