Pedestrian hit and killed by train in Austin on Tuesday evening

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police said a person was killed when a train struck him in the 1700 block of West Stassney Lane Tuesday night.

APD said the call came in at 10:19 p.m. It was a benefits check call that required immediate police response.


Austin Police and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived at the scene and found a male victim. The victim was pronounced dead at 10:53 p.m., according to APD.

Austin police said the case is not currently being investigated as a homicide.

According to APD, the case is currently being investigated by the Austin Police Department’s Homicide Unit and is currently in the preliminary investigation phase.
