Police continue investigation into murder of 16-year-old boy from Eugene

The victim of a homicide that occurred Saturday night in the 300 block of East 14th Avenue in Eugene has been identified as 16-year-old Fernando Ismael Aguirre.

The Eugene Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating.

Friends of the victim’s family have started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover funeral and memorial costs.

According to the site, Aguirre was killed just one month after his 16th birthday.

According to Eugene PD, it happened on Saturday at 10:49 p.m.

While it is unknown if there is a connection to the E. 14th Street case, EPD said a vehicle left the area without its lights on.

When police attempted to stop the incident, a chase ensued, which led to the arrest of a youth in the Kinsrow area.

Our newsroom spoke to neighbors on site, one of whom heard a gunshot, but had no further information.

EPD is asking witnesses or anyone with relevant information about this incident to contact them.
