Transgender woman injured in alleged attack in hotel

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Video first sent to News 4 from the District Hotel shows the moments before and after an alleged attack that took place at the hotel on Northwest 39th Street Saturday night.

The hotel said the incident involved transgender woman Riley Eastman.

Police described the situation as a dispute between friends and the hotel is demanding that something be done about it.

“Nobody gets away with it here. We’ll get them eventually,” says Tim Selby, co-owner of the District Hotel.

The victim told News 4 what happened immediately before the attack.

“They took my room key and came back in after having a drink at one of the bars and came back around 1:40 a.m.,” said Riley Eastman, the victim.

Surveillance footage showed two people walking past the pool and then into the victim’s room.

“It escalated. One of them took a picture frame off the wall and threw it at me on the bed. I threw it back and the other one started hitting me. I collapsed into a sort of fetal position and he continued to hit me all over my body, leaving me with bruised bones on my arms and cuts all over,” Eastman said.

Surveillance footage also showed one of the suspected suspects taking Eastman’s purse from the room and then leaving it on a fire extinguisher in the hallway.

The other person is seen holding the door of the hotel room where Eastman is still located closed.

Then a neighbor rushed to help.

“Then I opened the door and found a nightmare. Riley was covered in blood,” said Katherine Taylor.

Taylor also explained that the hotel room looked messy.

“There’s broken glass everywhere from the lamp they hit her on the head with – she’s lying on the bed, blood on the sheets, the walls, the door, blood on me for helping her,” Taylor said.

The hotel said there are already over 60 surveillance cameras on site and that it plans to implement further security measures to ensure the safety of guests.

“We don’t want anything to be swept under the rug,” said Steven Blundell, co-owner of the District Hotel.

Oklahoma City police said they knew the names of the suspects but were not releasing them publicly.

The investigation into the alleged attack is still ongoing and it is still unclear whether any arrests will be made.
