Six months after the death of the three men, questions remain unanswered

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Six months ago, a group of friends met in the Northland to watch the Kansas City Chiefs game and hang out.

Three of these friends were Found dead days later in the backyard of Jordan Willis’ house.

On Monday, The families of these three dead have few answers and they say their questions are ignored.

An attorney close to the families told FOX4 that because of the amount of time that has passed and the lack of communication from police and prosecutors, he believes no charges will ever be filed.

With that in mind, the coroner confirmed to FOX4 that his work is complete and we have reached another milestone for which there are still no answers.

“Throughout this whole thing, I had a lot of trouble finding anyone to respond to me,” said Jennifer Marquez, David Harrington’s mother.

“My nephew died a tragic death along with two of his friends and no one is being held accountable,” said Jim McGeeney, Clayton McGeeney’s uncle.

These families are desperately searching for answers and wondering if anyone will be held accountable for the deaths of Clayton McGeeney, Ricky Johnson and David Harrington.

“If your car had exploded now, what would have happened? Well, they’ll find out what happened. If a plane crashed, what would they do? They’d get the black box, they could find out what happened. But with these three dead people, they’re not doing anything. It looks like they’re not going to do anything. And if they do, let us know,” Jim said.

Months later Preliminary toxicology reports were presented to the families They show that cocaine and fentanyl were found in the bodies of the three men. FOX4 learned that these reports were completed on January 31, almost six months ago.

“Yes, our office has determined the cause and manner of death of all three deceased persons.
In all three cases, the embargo status applies and there are currently no public documents available for publication.”

“All three autopsy reports were certified on January 31, 2024” Kelsie Gwartney, chief of investigations and director of the Forensic Medical Division of Kansas, said in two separate statements.

Still, all three families have struggled to get information from the police or the Platte County District Attorney’s Office, and the investigations are ongoing.

In fact, the last communication with FOX4, after months of communicating with the prosecutor’s office, stated “there is nothing more to discuss about this case at this time.” Mr Zahnd will not comment by telephone or in any other way until the investigation is completed.”

Why it is so important that we have been told the date that these coroner’s reports were completed is because we have been told all along that this is holding up the inquest. So the question is, what is causing the delay, given that these reports have been out for some time now?

We know what was going on in Johnson’s, Harrington’s and McGeeney’s systems, but the medical examiner refuses to release the official cause and manner of death, even to the parents of these men.

As for Jordan Willis, if you recall, FOX4 had reported through a family source that he had checked into rehab in the days after the men were found to face his addiction problem head-on.

Since then, we have not heard a word from him, his family or his lawyer. We have contacted Willis and his lawyer, as well as the fifth man and his lawyerNone of the four responded to FOX4 prior to this report.
