HOUSTON — A heat advisory is in effect for today as heat index values ​​are expected to reach 106 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Houston.

These temperatures could become very dangerous after Hurricane Beryl, especially with so many residents without power or air conditioning.

While this is normally below the criteria, the widespread loss of power and air conditioning will create unsafe conditions. People working outside may not have the opportunity to cool down properly. Cooling centers are open and available to anyone who needs them.

Residents are urged to take precautions in their recovery efforts.

Today we will feel temperatures between 100 and 105 degrees. Actual air temperatures are between 90 and 95 degrees.

The 7-day rain chance starts to creep back into the forecast by Friday and Saturday. It’s not too bad, about a 30% chance. I’m not expecting extreme weather, but notice how long this heat lingers. We’ll be looking at mid to low temperatures of 90-95 degrees F for the rest of the week.
