Fatal work accident at Aurubis Hamburg

It is with great regret that Aurubis confirms a fatal accident at work. At around 10:15 a.m. today, a worker from an external company sustained a serious head injury while loading scaffolding parts in the area of ​​the continuous casting plant at the Hamburg plant. The emergency services were immediately alerted. The Aurubis plant fire brigade arrived on site within a very short time and provided first aid. The injured man was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Several witnesses to the incident suffered from shock and are currently receiving psychological care.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident and the resulting loss of life,” said Aurubis Executive Board member and Human Resources Director Markus Kramer stressed: “We would like to express our deepest condolences to the relatives of the deceased and mourn this terrible loss.”

The responsible authorities are currently investigating the accident. Aurubis is cooperating fully with the responsible authorities in clarifying the circumstances and causes of the accident.

The accident has nothing to do with the major shutdown currently taking place at the site.
