Atlanta Weather on July 4th

ATLANTA — It’s not just a tradition to compete in the AJC Peachtree Road Race on the Fourth of July, it’s also a tradition to work up a sweat. This year will be no different. Be prepared for hot and humid conditions at the start and finish of the race.

At the start of the race, temperatures will be around 24-25 degrees. Humidity will be around 90%. It will be a very humid morning with a lot of humidity. Temperatures will rise rapidly during the morning. By 9am, we will be in the 27 degrees. By 11am, we will already be in the 27 degrees.

Be sure to hydrate and stay hydrated at water stations throughout the race. Also, keep an eye on the Atlanta Track Club’s alert system. Organizers have not yet revealed what color the alert system will be at the start of the race. We expect them to tell us Wednesday.

Green means conditions are “good.” Yellow means caution is advised during the race. Red means conditions may be dangerous. Code black means the race is cancelled.

We will communicate the alert level when the Atlanta Track Club releases it.
