Teenager involved in jet ski accident in Hilton Head

A second person was injured in connection with a jet ski accident on May 29, 2024 near Turner’s Marina in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The SC Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) released the accident report this week, stating that three teenagers were involved in the incident, which occurred off Windmill Harbor in Calibogue Sound. One of the teens was charged with negligent operation of a personal watercraft after another teen was hospitalized with a broken femur following the accident.

“Arihant was the rear seat passenger and when the ship he was on collided, the bow hit him on the leg,” the report said. “Arihant suffered a fractured femur and after being admitted to the hospital, surgery was performed to repair the damage.”

The watercraft involved in the accident were rented from Sea Monkey Watersportsa company owned by Neil TurnerAs our regular audience knows, Turner also owns Lowcountry Ferrywhich received a controversial contract from Beaufort County to operate its ferry service to Daufuskie Island.

As previously reported, Turner was charged with a watercraft code violation on June 7, 2024, after SCDNR officials said he failed to report the accident as required. According to Beaufort County court records, Turner paid a fine of 1087.50 USDThe case was settled by the judge on June 25, 2024 Erin Gentry Vaux.

Sources at the scene of the accident provided FITSNews with video footage showing a person being loaded into the back of a pickup truck on May 29, 2024. These individuals stated that no emergency services were called to the scene of the accident and that the accident was not reported to the proper authorities – allegedly to avoid bad publicity.

The SCDNR report does not address the fact that the owner of the watercraft failed to report the accident or that a pickup truck was allegedly used to transport the injured minor to the hospital.
