More dangerous heat in the Midwest

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAYS apply from Friday to Sunday due to the risk of dangerous heat and humidity.

Heat index values ​​are expected to exceed 105° in parts of the central state.

TODAY

This afternoon we will have a brief respite from the worst of the heat, with highs ranging from 30 to nearly 35 degrees. Factoring in the humidity, it will still feel like we are in the 35 to 35 degrees range. Clouds will continue to clear as the day progresses.

Lows tonight will drop to around 70 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAYS

Things will start to get hotter again from Friday, with highs of 35 to 35 degrees in the afternoon and a heat index of 38 to 40 degrees, with the heat index potentially rising above 40 degrees at times in some areas. Most of Friday will be sunny, and although I can’t rule out isolated showers, it will stay dry in most areas.

Temperatures on Saturday will soar above 35 degrees, with the heat index expected to top 40 degrees in parts of the Mid-State. An isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out Saturday afternoon, but most of the region will remain dry under mostly sunny skies.

Sunday will be a little cooler with temperatures in the 35s, but the heat index is still expected to be above 38s in the afternoon. There is a greater chance of a few showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon, which will cool some areas. Have your umbrella ready on Sunday and remember that with any thunderstorm, heavy downpours are also possible.
