Paris Hilton, a well-known socialite and businesswoman, testified during a House committee meeting on Wednesday, sharing her personal stories about her time in foster care. Her emotional yet powerful testimony aimed to persuade Congress to improve the lives of children in foster care. Hilton described the abuse she allegedly suffered at a boarding school for troubled youth in Utah, including sexual assault, physical restraints and forced medication.

“When I was 16 years old, I was ripped from my bed in the middle of the night and taken across state lines to the first of four residential youth facilities.” “Paris Hilton, a personality known for her outspokenness, stripped off her usual glitz and glamour to make a raw and emotional statement on Capitol Hill.

“These programs promised healing, growth and support, but instead I was not allowed to speak, move freely or even look out the window for two years,” Hilton, never one to back down from a challenge, bravely recounted a difficult time from her youth at Provo Canyon School. Her voice trembled as she described the alleged abuse she suffered – “physical restraints, forced medication and even sexual harassment” by the very staff entrusted with her welfare.

“I was force-fed drugs and sexually abused by staff. I was forcibly restrained and dragged through the hallways, stripped naked and placed in solitary confinement,” the star continued, issuing a stark warning of the cruel truth many children face in the U.S. foster care system and calling on Congress to intervene.

The Hilton heiress, however, did not blame her parents, Rick Hilton and Kathy Hilton, for sending her to the school for “problematic teenagers,” but said they were “deceived” and “manipulated.” In recent years, the 43-year-old socialite has frequently spoken out in state legislatures and on Capitol Hill in favor of a law that would protect children from this “inhumane money industry,” and has testified rigorously in favor of it.

Paris Hilton’s voice for reform is not new. In 2020, her documentary “This Is Paris” on YouTube exposed the alleged abuses she endured at Provo Canyon School. This was not just a story of her own experiences; she later led protests calling for the school to be closed. Today, Hilton is a mother of two young children (son Phoenix and daughter London) and continues to advocate for reform, calling on Congress to address the needs of the often overlooked foster and adopted children.

According to PageSix, several other former students at the school also supported Hilton’s claims, calling the treatment these children endured “criminal.” Hilton continued, “It has left me with severe post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma that will affect me for the rest of my life.”
