Possibility of heavy rain and wind

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Northeast Ohio is expected to see a wave of severe storms, including the possibility of damaging winds, as heavy rain and gusts of 50 to 60 mph hit the region.

TORNADO WARNING

The National Weather Service Cleveland has issued a tornado warning for Ashtabula, Erie and Crawford counties. The warning expires at 1:45 p.m.

The First Alert weather team also warns that hailstones ranging in size from peas to quarters could rain down on northeast Ohio.

ROAD CLOSURES

Due to traffic conditions, authorities have closed roads throughout Northeast Ohio. Roads may be covered with debris from the storms. Drivers should adjust their speed accordingly.

Remember: if your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on too. Leave home early in case there are traffic problems.

In Tuscarawas County, the westbound lanes of US 250 at the Midvale exit are closed due to an accident and downed power lines. The expected reopening time is unknown.

In Summit County, Springfield Township police said Pickle Road between Mill Run Drive and Camden Ridge Boulevard is closed due to downed poles and power lines. It is expected to reopen around 3:30 p.m.
