Newton police officer involved in serious accident – ​​WSOC TV

NEWTON, NC – The Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash involving a Newton police officer.

The accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday on Northwest Boulevard in Newton.

According to police, the officer was responding to a domestic disturbance call and was passing an ambulance when, according to witnesses, a minivan drove in front of the officer’s patrol car.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty spoke to someone who witnessed the accident. She said the officer had his lights and siren on at the time of the accident.

“I don’t know why, because the siren was loud and the lights were on,” said Jacqueline Alanis Santos. “I could hear it coming long before I saw it.”

According to police, the officer and two people from the minivan were taken to the hospital, but they did not suffer serious injuries.
